Research named as one of Australia’s 10 best

January 28, 2014

Research led by Mater Pathology’s Dr John Duley has been named as one of Australia’s 10 best research projects of 2013.

Dr Duley and his team are working on the development of a simple genetic test to predict which patients will suffer serious adverse side effects from the drug fluorouracil, which is given to treat solid tumours of the abdomen, neck and breast.

Fluorouracil currently causes serious adverse side effects in about one-in-ten patients. To read more about this ground-breaking research, visit
